This is our first time logging a benchmark! We have taken photos of some that we have encountered in our geo-journeys but never did anything with them. This marker is located exactly where the description says it is and is in good condition. Thanks for this unique find :)

found today while caching in area - a virtual cache at this same location!

logging from over a year ago because I just realized we can still log benchmarks here.

The virtual cache took me here. So I got the chance to log my first benchmarks as well!

I found this benchmark while looking for a virtual cache in the same location.

stopped here for the virtual and found the benchmark

I saw this while doing the Virtual. Of course I'm gonna log it.

We found this last November; and while this picture doesn't match GeoNav's; I think this is the right mark. If it's not; this is probably "Harmony 1".

We remember finding this at the base of a watertower, per the description.

I found this about a year ago and am just now figuring out that there was a benchmark page, I loged this under geonavs benchmark page before Treasurechaser

Found HARMONY in Pennsylvania. PID KY0220. About half a mile from my house. It's in great shape at the base of a blue water tower. Found REFERENCE MARK 1 in good shape. REFERENCE MARK 2 is missing. What a great idea though! Thanks!

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in April 1998.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
