Good shape, recessed back on the original facade. Nice that they cut out the new facade to expose it, rather than cover it, as is often the case.

It was neat how they integrated this into the building. Pretty typical benchmark in the heart of the city. Thanks.

We found this one easily thanks to the pictures in the comments. My gps said I was still 120ft away. I am still trying to learn how to use the nuvi gps for geocaching. I just figured out how to put it into pedestrian mode so that might help. I tried to log where I was to update the way points but that didn't work either. With some practice I will learn.

Second benchmark found.

Gospa Missions is current building occupant.

The mark is in good condition at N 40° 46.148 W 080° 03.737. It is set vertically in the north face of a building housing a gift shop at 230 East Main Street.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
