I was unable to find this mark. According to the description the mark is probably within the fenced in area of the football practice field. It may be possible to spot the mark through the fence but there was a lot of equipment being stored in the area at the time so it may not have been visible. It's also possible the mark is gone as the concrete in this area looked somewhat new.

A STANDARD REFERENCE MARK DISK SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE CONCRETE WALKWAY LEADING TO THE NORTH END OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS STADIUM, 6 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A FENCE CORNER, 5 FEET SOUTH OF A FENCE, 1/2 FOOT SOUTH OF THE NORTH EDGE OF THE WALKWAY, 29 FEET NORTHEAST OF A STREET LIGHT AND 26 FEET WEST OF THE WEST CURB OF FOURTH STREET.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
