First find since resetting post-construction.

Found this one after a pretty quick search of the area. probably will be a harder get as the foliage comes back

Another fairly easy find on my first trip. Partially hidden under some brush but not too hard to find.

In the area, so dropped by to be sure it's still around.

A very warm August afternoon. Here again I am in the area and checking out some benchmarks. This one is well documented, however the vegation is about to take over the railroad bridge and Bone Yard creek.

This was number 5 today. A very easy find. My photo of the benchmark itself didn't turn out. I will go back and get it. Did take a photo of the bridge nearby.

Can't belive I didn't see this one last year when I looked. Went back and there it was and in good condition.

In good shape; still in the abandoned train bridge, a little southwest of where the coordinates say it should be, according to my meriplat.

photoFrom Above
Looking at the mark just north of the mark, from the abandoned train bridge.
photoCloser
A little closer to the mark; the shade from the bridge didn't help things.
photoLooking East
This is looking east, just west of the mark; the mark is to the right of the guardrail, parallel to the ground set in concrete.
photoFrom West
Looking west towards the mark, from the abandoned train bridge; the mark is to the left of the train bridge, at the very end.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991. WARNING-Repeat measurements at this control monument indicate possible vertical movement.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
