Right at the entrance of the driveway for the old Frasca Airport. I understand some of the original Frasca family were stunt flyers. This marker is right behind the power pole that is on your right just as you turn into the drive to the airport.

ABOUT 2.15 MILES NORTH-NORTHEAST ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 45 FROM THE WABASH RAILROAD STATION AT URBANA, AT ILLINI AIRPORT, AT AN EAST-WEST ROAD CROSSING, 30 FEET NORTH OF CENTER LINE OF EAST-WEST ROAD, 170 FEET WEST OF CENTER OF INTERSECTION OF EAST-WEST ROAD AND HIGHWAY 45, 100 FEET SOUTH OF SOUTHWEST CORNER OF AIRPORT OFFICE BUILDING, 59 1/2 FEET SOUTHWEST OF SOUTHWEST CORNER OF A WHITE FRAME HOUSE, 4 FEET NORTH OF A POWER POLE, 1 1/2 FEET WEST OF A FENCE LINE, ABOUT LEVEL WITH ROAD AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 2 INCHES.

  • This mark is at Frasca Field Airport (C16)
  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
