Still on the front of the building in this tiny village. No longer empty, though. Someone now seems to live in the little bank that's about as wide as a one car garage. Was going to get the cords but heard people shuffling around inside and decided to just snap a quick pic and get going. Setting on this is "massive structure". I guess it's massive compared to, say, a concrete monument but not compared to most things.

Found it in the empty building that was once the Ellsworth, IL, bank building. I understand the building is for sale. So, if anyone wants to buy a benchmark....

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
