RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1977 (CLN) STATION MARK REFERENCE MARKS 1 AND 2 WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AND AS DESCRIBED. THE AZIMUTH MARK WAS NOT FOUND. IT WAS REPORTED DESTROYED IN 1962 AND THE DISK SENT TO OFFICE. A NEW AZIMUTH MARK WAS SET AND ESTABLISHED. THE DISTANCE TO THE REFERENCE MARKS CHECKED. THE ANGLE BETWEEN THE REFERENCE MARKS WAS SMALLER BY 7 MINUTES. THE GRAVEL ROAD MENTIONED IN 1961 IS NOW PAVED. THE PREVIOUS DESCRIPTION AND TO REACH ARE ADEQUATE WITH THE ADDITION OF THE NEW AZIMUTH MARK. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS 20 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, 1 FOOT EAST OF A POWER POLE AND 1 FOOT WEST OF A METAL WITNESS POST. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 2 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED REED 1961 1977. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN--4 MILES SOUTHWEST OF PONTIAC. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 5 FEET.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in October 1999.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
