Cruising, or caching, down the Route 66, headed towards St Louis... And made the quick find on this one. Quicker than the geocache even.

Found while heading home from GWXII

Doing some Route 66 caching today and since this benchmark is located very close to the RT66 IL-RT4 Bridge cache, I thought would look for it. The result, I found my first benchmark!

out on a great run with kenny, shannonigan, and fireman712. after finding the cache we looked for this one. fireman712 made the find. this was my 1st benchmark, and it was pretty cool to have found.

Found while out with teamsteph, Kenny and shannonigan on an all day run. This is the first benchmark that i have found. It appears to be in great shape.

Had a difficult time finding with the snow, but with some dedication to search and search I was able to locate this benchmark. Always like a benchmark near a geocache that I can find.

First benchmark

First benchmark find :)

Almost missed this because I assumed it to be with the geocache. Nice find!

Found while caching in the Pontiac area. This was our first benchmark.

Found this BM on our Route 66 caching trip.

My first Benchmark. Caching with BlueBeadMan on our way home from NW Indiana and he noticed that there was a benchmark here.

Found this benchmark while finding the nearby cache. It was in good condition mounted on the foundation of the bridge. Thanks!

This is the reset and not the original. So, I didn't find the one listed in the database after all.

  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
