Saw this from our Amtrak train.

Observed from my train.

Saw this one on my way to macomb.

Found with Razor1965

Stopped to get dinner and check on my nearby geocache. This one is still standing. too dark for a picture.

Found it on our way back home to the Dallas TX area, going from Rockford IL to Springfield MO today.

Been by this several hundred times as I grew up and live just outside of McLean.

I drove and Tsmola spotted as we traveled to MOGA with Team Geochef and Kalkavekkian.

Found this mark on the way down to MOGA 2010 with Team Geochef, Moldslug and kalkavekkian.

Easily found near rr tracks and original description seems accurate. Good condition and seems to be still in use.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1959 (GWM) THE STATION IS THE CENTER OF THE TOP OF THE MUNICIPAL WATER TANK LOCATED NEAR THE CENTRAL SECTION OF MC LEAN. IT IS A STEEL TANK SUPPORTED BY A FOUR LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE AND IS PAINTED SILVER. THE HEIGHT IS ABOUT 135 FEET.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1960 (RCJ) THE STATION WAS RECOVERED AS DESCRIBED AND FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in October 1999.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
