Found as described in good condition. Surprised that it has lasted so long in this park right next to the sidewalk.It's sitting on a skinny pillar of concrete just as round as the disk.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1942 AT HAXTUN. AT HUXTUN, PHILLIPS COUNTY, AT THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE CITY PARK, 138 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE ROCK WALL, 101 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE STREET ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE PARK, 144 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE STREET ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE PARK, 67 FEET SOUTH OF THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE REST ROOMS, AND 1 FOOT EAST OF THE SIDEWALK. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED 4028.086 HAXTUN 1934 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
