Bench Mark V 309 was recovered as described, in good condition. The well and witness post are no longer there.

This mark was found 0.1 mi SSE along Rd. 77 from the intersection of Rd. 122 and Rd. 77. It is 78 feet west of the centerline of Rd. 77.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1952 6.3 MI W FROM GROVER. 0.3 MILE NORTHWEST ALONG THE CHICAGO, BURLINGTON AND QUINCY RAILROAD FROM THE STATION AT GROVER, THENCE 5.9 MILES WEST ALONG A GRAVELED ROAD, THENCE 0.1 MILE SOUTH ALONG A GRAVELED ROAD, 74 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF AN OLD WELL AT AN ABANDONED FARM SITE, 78 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF A NORTH AND SOUTH GRAVELED ROAD, 2.3 FEET EAST OF A WITNESS POST, SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST WHICH PROJECTS 0.3 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
