|DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1939 (FGJ)
ON THE RIDGE OF A SMALL HILL SETTING IN THE VALLEY ABOUT 1.0 MILE SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF THE RAILROAD STATION OF SIDNEY ON THE DENVER AND SALT LAKE RAILWAY.
TO REACH FROM THE SIDNEY POST OFFICE, GO SOUTH, PASSING THE RAILROAD STATION AT 0.1 MILE, THENCE TAKE RIGHT FORK WESTERLY ON GRADED ROAD 1.05 MILE, THEN SOUTH 0.3 MILE, AND CONTINUE SOUTH AT T FOR 0.25 MILE TO RAILROAD CROSSING WHERE U.S.C. AND G.S. BM R-28 (1933), USED AS THE AZIMUTH, IS LOCATED TO THE SOUTH OF THE CROSSING AND TO THE EAST OF THE ROAD. THENCE CONTINUE 0.45 MILE TO ABOUT 200 YARDS SOUTH OF A GROUP OF FARM BUILDINGS AND TURN LEFT (EAST) THROUGH A WIRE GATE, AND CONTINUE EASTERLY AND THENCE NORTH-EASTERLY ON PLAIN TRACK-ROAD FOR 0.55 MILE, PASSING A FRAME GRANARY, AND PASS THROUGH FENCE JUST EAST THEREOF. THENCE TURN LEFT (NORTH) TO THE TOP OF THE RIDGE, THEN EAST ALONG RIDGE TO THE HIGHEST POINT, A DISTANCE OF 0.35 MILE.
SURFACE, UNDERGROUND, REFERENCE AND AZIMUTH MARKS ARE STANDARD BRONZE DISKS SET IN CONCRETE.
THE POINT OF THE CENTER RIDGE OF THE RAILROAD STATION SIDNEY (D. AND S.L.RY.), A FRAME BUILDING, FACING THE TRIANGULATION STATION AND ABOUT A MILE DISTANT, WAS CUT IN AS AN AZIMUTH. THE U.S.C. AND G.S. BENCH MARK IS A MORE PERMANENT AZIMUTH AND ITS LOCATION IS DESCRIBED ABOVE. THIS DESCRIPTION VARIES FROM RECONNAISANCE DESCRIPTION BECAUSE OF NECESSARY CORRECTIONS.
