DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1949 (DHK) THE STATION IS LOCATED 6.5 MILES AIR LINE NORTH OF STEAMBOAT SPRINGS ON A ROCKY PEAK KNOWN LOCALLY AS ROCKY PEAK. THE STATION MARK IS SET FLUSH 30 FEET NORTHWEST OF AND 30 FEET LOWER THAN THE HIGHEST POINT OF PEAK. IT IS STAMPED, ROCKY 1949. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS SET FLUSH ABOUT 5 FEET LOWER THAN THE STATION MARK. IT IS STAMPED, ROCKY NO 1 1949. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS SET FLUSH ABOUT 4 FEET HIGHER THAN THE STATION MARK. IT IS STAMPED, ROCKY NO 2 1949. THE AZIMUTH MARK PROJECTS 40 INCHES, IS SET IN AN OPEN GRASSY AREA 0.1 MILE NORTH OF A LOG CABIN, 0.05 MILE NORTHEAST OF A DIRT ROAD AND 4 FEET NORTH OF A WHITE WITNESS POST. Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in January 1993.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
