Google Earth timeline documents the destruction of this triangulation station. The station and the reference marks would have been destroyed when the neighborhood was constructed sometime between September 2004 and July 2005.

The azimuth mark would have been destroyed sometime between June 2010 and October 2011 when the Center Street I-15 overpass was expanded.

Mark destroyed.

FYI: county surveyors rarely, if ever, replace federal survey marks. They do sometimes set county benchmarks nearby, but these cannot be used to claim a find in this database. The USGS no longer replaces destroyed benchmarks, so it is even more unlikely that a county surveyor would do so.

I checked with Utah County and they said there are no immediate plans to replace this benchmark.

Didn't find anything.

Yep, like crackerjack91 said, construction workers took it out. They are putting in a big subdivision. They said they would put the marker back, but only time will tell.

we went to the coordinates but they were doing construction and took it out. they might put it back in after their done withthe construction.

Easy to find

Found with no problem. Didn't even need my GPS. A buddy of mine used to do some field work for the US Geographical Survey and we stayed out here one night (about six years ago!) to track its movement.

N 40° 17.850 W 111° 43.206

Located in an empty field at the end of a road. The coordinates were pretty close. Mongrot and I walked around the field for only a couple of minutes before he found it.

This was located in a strange field but I am not sure why the last indication was that it is in poor condition. It didn't appear to be mounted level but it was hard to determine based on the surrounding area. If the city plans to continue the road through the field, this will have to be remounted.
