My recent fervor to locate benchmarks led me to the discovery that this was one. Thankfully it's a prominent part of the skyline if you know where to look.

While in downtown today.

This was a good day to explore downtown SLC.

Found while Geocaching nearby!

photoLO0994-Benchmark

Saw the benchmark while touring the city. A lot of history in a fairly small area.

Came down a little early for this evening's concert for the Pioneer Day's Celebration. Guests were Lindsey Sterling and Nathan Pacheco. Awesome concert and bonus of having a benchmark so close.

My geocaching idioms:

  1. A cache a day may keep the doldrums away but eventually you use a lot of gas.
  2. One man's trash is another man's cache swag or container.
  3. Live life like you are going after a 5X5 geocache with family and friends - it is all about the journey and may it be serendipitous.

And finally 4. Rock hounds were the original geocachers unless you take into consideration the Ancient Egyptians but they tended to Booby trap and curse their hides. Hmm.... maybe a few of them are still geocaching.

Found it.

Visited while doing a nearby virtual cache.

Found while out caching.

I love the architecture of this building.

I got to spend a great day in Salt Lake City, and this is one of the things that I got to do while I was out caching and sight seeing.

Saw it with my Dad and the Scouts.

Technically this Intersection Station doesn't even exist!! The Station Description says that the Hotel Utah is at the intersection of West Temple and South Temple. This would be one block west of its actual true location. So, according to the Station Description LO0994 is actually "Destroyed". But since the coordinates exactly match, and it was just someone's goof in stating the location, I'm going to call it "Found" like everyone else.

Logged this one after an afternoon of post-conference caching downtown. CILOL

I used to work here, back when it was still the Hotel Utah and before I got into geocaching. Found it.

Grabbed a cache today and then went after some benchmarks!
Flagpole still there!

Nice building.

Saw this one while working on the temple square cache. Ok, so here is a question for everyone. My companion and I usually make the security guards here on Temple square and even the ones with dicrete bulges in their coats, but has anyone else noticed the phony groundskeepers?!? Well, we did! Flower cart and three (yes, 3) radios and he wasn't really into doing his job very well, when he noticed me pointing him out to my companion, he left the area. Makes ya go hmmmmm.

Went here for a company diner

it hasn't moved

Found it

Saw it otday on my rounds with the Legend.

I see it daily, it's there as described, but not the Hotel Utah as previously noted.

The Flagpole on top of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building was recovered in good condition.
