Since there aren't enough geocaches to do when on foot (staying in a hotel in New Haven), decided to do a benchmark too for the fun of it. There are lots to do, but just chose one, where there wasn't too much pedestrian traffic. Took photo. It's in good shape as it doesn't get trod on!

With all the tall buildings nearby, my gps showed a weak signal!

As others have said, an easy find.

Found this one with Devbrain, see his entry for the photo. :)

Found this one while hunting (unsuccessfully) for LX0385. The building was marked as "Courthouse" on the two sides and "Post Office" on the front.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
