Today was another hot and humid day in the Greater NY area, but it was better than last week. I worked my way south along the Hudson River from Breakneck Ridge to Cold Spring. I hit about 50%: found 4, DNF 3. They are mostly near the RR, and keeping safe kept me away from a few other possible finds, but I count it as a good day.

I found this one after finding LX1131 V42. That mark was on the north side of the tunnel and this one was on the south side. But I got to this mark without the suicidal idea of walking through an active RR tunnel by skirting around on the old road (now a rough path) which circles the point along the shoreline. When you come back to the tracks, you are right at this mark.

As usual, the scaled coordinates are pretty bad (but at least they're on this side of the tunnel).

Here's my own Google map showing the mark (with corrected coordinates). You can even see the faint sign of the old road which skirts around the point: LX1129 GMap.

Control Text

 • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
 • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
 • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
 • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
 • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
