IN NORTH MADISON, ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 79, 0.1 KM (0.05 MI) SOUTH OF THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 80, IN TOP OF A ROCK OUTCROP IN THE FRONT LAWN OF THE NORTH MADISON CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, 19.05 METERS (62.5 FT) WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 18.71 METERS (61.4 FT) NORTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE SOUTH CONCRETE WALL OF THE STEPS TO THE CHURCH, 16.25 METERS (53.3 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE NORTH CONCRETE WALL OF THE STEPS TO THE CHURCH, 3.51 METERS (11.5 FT) SOUTH OF A FLAG POLE. THE MARK IS 1.5 M ABOVE HIGHWAY.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
