TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF ROUTE 66 (WILLIMANTIC ROAD) AND ROUTE 2 (EXIT 13) IN THE TOWN OF MARLBOROUGH, GO EASTERLY ON ROUTE 66 FOR 0.2 MILE TO THE STATION ON THE LEFT, NORTH SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE STATION MARK IS A CONNECTICUT GEODETIC SURVEY BRASS DISC, STAMPED 5117. IT IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 6 INCH BY 6 INCH BY 48 INCHES LONG REINFORCED CONCRETE POST. THE TOP IS SET 3 INCHES BELOW THE GROUND. IT IS 95.0 FEET WEST OF CONNECTICUT LIGHT AND POWER COMPANY POLE 260, 35.7 FEET EAST OF THE SOUTHERLY TIP OF THE ISLAND AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE MARLBOROUGH COMMON, AND 29.3 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF CONNECTICUT ROUTE 66. 5118 (CGS) (AZIMUTH MARK) IS A CONNECTICUT GEODETIC SURVEY BRASS DISC, STAMPED 5118. RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1986 0.8 KM (0.5 MI) EAST FROM MARLBOROUGH. 0.8 KM (0.5 MI) EAST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 66 FROM THE POST OFFICE IN MARLBOROUGH TO THE MARK ON THE LEFT, AT THE ENTRANCE TO MARLBOROUGH COMMON, 9.1 METERS (29.9 FT) NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 11.1 METERS (36.5 FT) EAST OF THE CENTER OF THE ROAD LEADING TO MARLBOROUGH COMMON, 16.9 METERS (55.6 FT) EAST OF A BRASS BOLT SET IN A 1/4-INCH DRILL HOLE IN THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF A CATCH BASIN, 11.0 METERS (36.4 FT) SOUTH OF A BRASS BOLT SET IN A 1/4-INCH DRILL HOLE IN THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF A CATCH BASIN.   • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
