Documented History (by the NGS)

01/01/1933 by CGS (MONUMENTED)
DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1933 (GCM) THIS STATION IS LOCATED ON THE LEDGE AT THE EXTREMITY OF HAYCOCK POINT. IT IS ON THE SOUTHWESTERLY CORNER OF THE POINT ABOUT 14 METERS OUTSIDE THE SEA WALL THAT ENCLOSES THE SEAWARD SIDES OF THE POINT. A GROUP OF THREE LARGE BOULDERS MARKS THE SOUTHWESTERLY CORNER OF THE POINT. THE BOULDERS ARE ABOUT 40 METERS DISTANT AND BEAR S 85 DEG E (MAGNETIC) FROM THE STATION. THE STATION IS ABOUT 5 METERS FROM HIGH WATER LINE TO THE SOUTHWARD AND WESTWARD. IT IS ALMOST EXACTLY ON LINE WITH THE W SIDE OF THE MOST WESTERLY OF THE THREE COTTAGES ON THE POINT. STATION AND REFERENCE MARKS ARE STANDARD BRONZE DISKS WEDGED IN A DRILL HOLE IN OUTCROPPING BEDROCK AS DESCRIBED IN NOTES 2 AND 12A. REFERENCE MARK NO.1 IS IN LEDGE 5.4 METERS W OF THE WESTERLY SIDE OF SEA WALL AND BEARS N 30 DEG W (MAGNETIC) FROM STATION. REFERENCE MARK NO.2 IS IN LEDGE 0.9 METER S OF SOUTHERLY SIDE OF SEA WALL AND BEARS N 35 DEG E (MAGNETIC) FROM STATION. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 4.9 METERS.
