DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1978 (GEL) THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 2-3/4 MILES SOUTHEAST OF SOUTH GLASTONBURY, 5-1/2 MILES WEST-NORTHWEST OF MARLBOROUGH AND 5-3/4 MILES NORTHEAST OF PORTLAND. PERMISSION WAS GRANTED BY THE PROPERTY OWNER, MRS. MARGERET LEAHY. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN SOUTH GLASTONBURY GO SOUTH FOLLOWING STATE HIGHWAY 17 FOR 0.6 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD LEFT. TURN LEFT AND GO EASTERLY FOLLOWING FOOTE ROAD FOR 1.25 MILES TO A T-ROAD. TURN RIGHT AND GO EASTERLY FOLLOWING MATSON HILL ROAD FOR 0.55 MILE TO A FORK. HERE KEEP TO THE LEFT AND GO EAST FOLLOWING MATSON HILL ROAD FOR 0.65 MILE TO A FORK. HERE KEEP TO THE RIGHT AND GO SOUTH FOLLOWING CLARK HILL ROAD FOR 0.7 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD RIGHT. TURN RIGHT FOLLOWING ASPHALT ROAD UPHILL FOR 0.3 MILE TO THE STATION ON THE RIGHT AS DESCRIBED. THE STATION IS A STANDARD NGS REFERENCE MARK DISK STAMPED---PRELI NO 3 1935--- CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN BEDROCK WHICH PROJECTS 2 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 65.5 FEET SOUTHWEST OF POWER POLE NUMBER 4501 AND 9 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER OF THE DRIVEWAY. THE HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE THE STATION MARK WAS 1.2 METERS. A TRAVERSE CONNECTION WAS MADE TO TRIANGULATION STATION PRELI 1935 USING ELECTRONIC DISTANCE MEASURING EQUIPMENT. DESCRIBED BY PRESTON C. OSLEY JR., CHECKED BY G.M.RIVERS.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in August 1998.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
