Found it... don't know how much longer this one will be here. The pier is pretty damaged.

Just as described although it appears that Erie-Lackawana has abandoned this portion of its track. There were some rail cars on a siding just south of this point but the rails looking north seemed more like a pretzel than a railroad track. Although some of the ties on this bridge look like they've been recently replaced, the track is in a bad state of disrepair. This would make a great rails-to-trails project!

From Hamburg Turnpike, drive north on Morris AVenue to the end. Hike to bridge over dry wash, Located in southeast corner of north abutment. The abutment is cracking and crubling, but the rivet is still there.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1937 AT POMPTON JUNCTION. IN MORRIS COUNTY, AT POMPTON JUNCTION, PASSAIC COUNTY, ON THE ERIE RAILROAD, 250 FEET SOUTH OF THE NEW YORK SUSQUEHANNA AND WESTERN RAILROAD CROSSING, 96 FEET SOUTH OF MILEPOST 28 AT BRIDGE 27.97, IN THE TOP OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE NORTH ABUTMENT, 7 FEET EAST OF THE EAST RAIL, AND ABOUT 1 FOOT LOWER THAN THE BASE OF THE RAIL. A STANDARD MONEL-METAL RIVET.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
