Found per holograph's directions. I'm glad this one is mor than twelve feet from the centerline of Clinton Road. The ones that are twelve or fifteen feet from the centerline are long gone.

If you know where to look, it is easy to find, but it took me two trips to figure out where it was. Look at the northern edge of the power transmission line right of way. The blazed oak and maple trees are still standing, but the blaze marks are only discernable once you know they are there.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1942 1.5 MI N FROM NEWFOUNDLAND. IN PASSAIC COUNTY, 0.3 MILE WEST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 23 FROM THE POST OFFICE AT NEWFOUNDLAND, MORRIS COUNTY, THENCE 1.2 MILES NORTH ALONG A GRAVEL ROAD, 31 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, 4.4 FEET SOUTH OF A TRIANGULAR-BLAZED 10-INCH OAK TREE, 1.8 FEET NORTH OF A TRIANGULAR-BLAZED 12-INCH MAPLE TREE, IN A FLAT ROCK OUTCROP, AND ABOUT 2 FEET HIGHER THAN THE ROAD.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
