3rd time trying this one. Twice without a GPS. This time I had a better idea of where it was. Very overgrown at this point! BM is not covered, but it's a jungle in the area.

Found by description.
Disk is stamped "New York 456 1900" not "Albany" Okay. Albany seems to be on the disk as well. I couldn't make it out.

#5 of 15 for the day. This one took a few minutes to find. a lot of brush growing around the area and made hard to find. But I wasn't giving up. And there she was in great condition. No digging needed. Stamped 1900. The oldest that I have found so far.

Bridge is still intact and is used daily by an commuter train. The bench is surely there but was buried under a great deal of loose rubble which we did not feel comfortable about digging around in. The description is still accurate and adequate. . . . patrick & shirely

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
