DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1942 (FBQ) STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 4 MILES NE OF CARBONDALE, ON A SUMMIT OF THE MOOSIC MOUNTAINS ON STATE PROPERTY ACROSS THE (U.S. HIGHWAYS 6 AND 106) FROM THE STATE HOSPITAL, 1 MILE N OF THE HOSPITAL BUILDINGS AND ABOUT 0.5 MILE N OF THE HIGHWAY, AT THE S END AND HIGHEST PART OF A TIMBERED RIDGE, 33 FEET E OF THE CENTER LINE OF A TRACK ROAD, 26 FEET NNW OF A 6-INCH BLAZED OAK TREE AND 12 FEET W OF AN 8-INCH BLAZED OAK TREE. STATION MARK IS A STANDARD DISK STAMPED MOOSIC 1942 AND IS IN BEDROCK FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS SW BY S OF THE STATION, 15 FEET E OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE TRACK ROAD. IT IS A STANDARD DISK STAMPED MOOSIC NO 1 1942, AND IS IN BEDROCK 3 INCHES BENEATH THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS NW OF THE STATION, 12 FEET W OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD. IT IS A STANDARD DISK STAMPED MOOSIC NO 2 1942, AND IS SET IN BEDROCK FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN A CONCRETE MONUMENT, ABOUT 2.25 MILES E OF THE STATION, 31 FEET SE OF THE CENTER LINE OF U.S. HIGHWAYS 6 AND 106, 17 FEET NE OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ENTRANCE TO THE SPOJNIA FARM, 2.5 FEET SW OF A WHITE REFERENCE POST, 1.5 FEET NW OF A FENCE LINE, IS STAMPED MOOSIC 1942, AND PROJECTS 3 INCHES. TO REACH STATION FROM THE CARBONDALE POST OFFICE GO EASTERLY ON U.S. HIGHWAYS 6 AND 106 FOR 4.3 MILES AND TURN LEFT OFF THE HIGHWAY AT A POINT JUST E OF THE STATE HOSPITAL GUARDS HOME ON THE N SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY (TO REACH THE AZIMUTH MARK CONTINUE E ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 2.5 MILES TO THE MARK ON THE SE SIDE OF THE ROAD) GO N ALONG THE E SIDE OF THE GUARDS HOUSE AND THEN FOLLOW THE MAIN-TRAVELED ROAD NORTHERLY UP THE HILL FOR 0.4 MILE AND THEN MAKE A U TURN, GO 0.4 MILE AND TURN LEFT AT A DIM CROSS ROAD, GO 0.3 MILE AND TAKE THE MIDDLE ROAD OF THREE WHICH IS ALSO THE MAIN- TRAVELED ROAD, GO 0.4 MILE TO THE STATION ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. A 4-FOOT SIGNAL AT HONESDALE IS VISIBLE AT 37 FEET. A 50-FOOT SIGNAL AT ELK IS VISIBLE AT 37 FEET. 64-FOOT SIGNALS AT DUTKO, KELLY, QUARRY, AND VINE (USGS) ARE VISIBLE AT 37 FEET.
