DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1959 (CGS) THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF FLEETVILLE, ABOUT 2.5 MILES EAST OF WAVERLY, ABOUT 2 MILES NORTH- NORTHWEST OF MONTDALE, ON A HIGH HILL IN PASTURE LAND, AND IS ON PROPERTY OWNED BY MR. PETER BASALYGA. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN WAVERLY, GO NORTH ON STATE HIGHWAY 407 FOR 0.15 MILE TO A Y-INTERSECTION, THE JUNCTION OF COUNTY HIGHWAY 35031. TURN RIGHT AND GO EAST ON COUNTY HIGHWAY 35031 FOR 1.43 MILES TO A Y-INTERSECTION. TAKE THE RIGHT FORK AND GO EAST ON COUNTY HIGHWAY 35031 FOR 1.30 MILES TO A Y-INTERSECTION. TAKE THE LEFT FORK AND GO NORTHEAST ON COUNTY HIGHWAY 35031 FOR 0.71 MILE TO A CROSSROAD. CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD ON COUNTY HIGHWAY 35031 AND GO EAST FOR 0.85 MILE TO A T-INTERSECTION, THE JUNCTION OF TEMPORARY STATE HIGHWAY 347. TURN LEFT AND GO NORTH-NORTHWEST ON TEMPORARY STATE HIGHWAY 347 FOR 1.22 MILES TO MR. JAY C. NEWTONS MAIL BOX ON THE RIGHT, NORTH, SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 0.01 MILE TO A TRACK ROAD ON THE RIGHT, NORTH, SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. TURN RIGHT AND GO NORTH ON THE TRACK ROAD FOR 0.02 MILE TO A FORK. TAKE THE LEFT FORK, PASSING ALONG THE SOUTH END OF A BARN AND GO WEST FOR 0.04 MILE TO TWO SMALL PUMP HOUSES. TURN RIGHT, PASSING BETWEEN THE TWO SMALL PUMP HOUSES AND GO NORTH ON A DIM TRACK ROAD FOR 0.04 MILE TO A STEEL GATE, PASS THROUGH THE GATE AND CONTINUE NORTH ON THE DIM TRACK ROAD THROUGH THE PASTURE LAND FOR 0.36 MILE TO A ROCK FENCE LINE. TURN LEFT AND GO WEST ALONG THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE ROCK FENCE LINE FOR 0.05 MILE TO THE HIGHEST POINT OF THE HILL AND THE STATION. THE STATION MARK, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED RHONDA 1959, IS SET IN A DRILL HOLE WITH CONCRETE IN TOP OF A LARGE BOULDER WHICH IS FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. IT IS 0.05 MILE WEST OF A DIM TRACK ROAD AND 52 FEET SOUTH OF A ROCK FENCE LINE. REFERENCE MARK 1, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED RHONDA NO 1 1959, IS CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE TOP OF A BOULDER WHICH IS FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. IT IS 102.6 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A ROCK FENCE LINE AND IS ABOUT THE SAME ELEVATION AS THE STATION. REFERENCE MARK 2, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED RHONDA NO 2 1959, IS CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE TOP OF A LARGE BOULDER WHICH PROJECTS ABOUT 4 INCHES ABOVE THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. IT IS ABOUT 12-INCHES SOUTH OF THE ROCK FENCE LINE AND IS ABOUT 14 INCHES LOWER THAN THE STATION. AN AZIMUTH MARK WAS NOT ESTABLISHED FOR THIS STATION. STATION ADELLA MAY BE USED AS AN AZIMUTH MARK. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 14 METERS.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1973 (RH) THE STATION AND REFERENCE MARKS (1 AND 2) WERE RECOVERED AS DESCRIBED AND FOUND TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1974 (CLN) THE STATION AND ALL MARKS WERE RECOVERED AND FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION AS DESCRIBED IN THE 1959 DESCRIPTION. A NEW WITNESS POST WAS SET 2.5 FEET SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE STATION MARK. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN - 2 MILES NORTH-NORTHWEST OF MONTDALE.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in September 1999.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
