Found it while taking a leisurely stroll through Coudersport. MI15Deb spotted it and said "look, isn't that a benchmark?"

Really neat area--there are some great buildings in this town!

Disk is easy to locate and can be spotted from the road. Previous Logs and photos were of help.

The mark is in good condition.

In the area and decided to look-up this benchmark. Benchmark is in good condition. Raining hard, did not spent a lot of time looking around area.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1968 AT COUDERSPORT. AT COUDERSPORT, POTTER COUNTY, AT THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH MAIN AND EAST SECOND STREETS (U.S. HIGHWAY 6), IN THE CORNER OF THE COURTHOUSE LAWN NEAR THE STREET INTERSECTION, AND IN THE FACE OF THE STONE MEMORIAL TO DAVID ZEISBERGER. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED COUDERSPORT 1934 AND SET VERTICALLY.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
