DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1981 IN CONNEAUT. IN CONNEAUT, AT THE PITTSBURG AND CONNEAUT DOCK COMPANY ON THE WEST SIDE OF CONNEAUT HARBOR, AT LIFE PRESERVER STATION NUMBER 22 ALONG THE CONCRETE MOORING PIER OF THE HARBOR, THE MARK IS IN TOP OF CONCRETE MOORING PIER, 7.62 METERS (25.0 FEET) EAST OF THE EAST RAIL OF THE RAILROAD TRACK PARALLELING THE PIER, 2.19 METERS (7.2 FEET) SOUTHEAST OF THE METAL POLE SUPPORTING LIFE PRESERVER NUMBER 22 AND 0.52 METER (1.7 FEET) WEST OF THE EAST END OF THE PIER. THE MARK IS ABOVE LEVEL WITH TOP OF THE PIER.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
