DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1981 IN WEST SPRINGFIELD. IN WEST SPRINGFIELD, AT THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF ALBION, WEST SPRINGFIELD BRANCH OFFICE ON US HIGHWAY 20, 0.38 KILOMETER (0.25 MILE) NORTHEAST OF THE US POST OFFICE, THE MARK IS IN THE FRONT LAWN OF THE BANK ON THE SOUTHEAST SIDE OF A 2-FOOT HIGH BRICK SHRUBBERY PLANTER, 11.29 METERS (37.0 FEET) NORTHWEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE SOUTHWESTBOUND LANE OF THE HIGHWAY, 19.30 METERS (63.3 FEET) SOUTH OF THE EAST CORNER OF THE BANK, 0.76 METER (2.5 FEET) EAST OF THE SOUTH CORNER OF THE PLANTER AND 0.3 METER (1.0 FOOT) SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEAST FACE OF THE PLANTER. THE MARK IS ABOVE LEVEL WITH THE HIGHWAY.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
