The station mark was recovered in good condition at the posted coordinates. The concrete post projects about 0.3 foot. Reference Mark 1 was recovered in good condition at N 41° 21.199 W 080° 40.987. It is 1.0 foot west of a Carsonite witness post and 0.7 foot below the surface of the ground. Reference Mark 2 was recovered in good condition at N 41° 21.167 W 080° 41.024. It is 1.1 feet west of a Carsonite witness post and 0.2 foot below the surface of the ground.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1928 (WM) STATION IS ABOUT 2 MILES E AND 1-1/4 MILES N OF CORTLAND, 6 MILES W OF BURGHILL, AND 0.4 MILE W OF JOHNSON STATION, ON N SIDE OF ERIE RAILROAD ABOUT 18 METERS N OF THE MAIN TRACK, IN A SMALL PASTURE AND NEAR A SMALL POND. SURFACE, UNDERGROUND, AND REFERENCE MARKS ARE STANDARD BRONZE DISKS SET IN CONCRETE AS DESCRIBED IN NOTES 1A, 7A AND 11A. REACHED FROM BURGHILL BY GOING S ON HIGHWAY 1/2 MILE TO FIRST CROSS ROAD, THENCE W ABOUT 6 MILES TO SECOND LANE LEADING N TO RAILROAD AFTER PASSING A LARGE RESERVOIR N OF ROAD. THIS LANE IS NEAR A HOUSE, 200 YARDS W OF THE FIRST, AND LEADS BY THE BARN, ACROSS THE TRACKS TO PASTURE IN WHICH STATION IS LOCATED. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK--90 FEET.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1957 (JBW) THE STATION MARK, REFERENCE 1 AND 2 WERE RECOVERED AND FOUND TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. THE DIRECTION OR ANGLE BETWEEN THE REFERENCE MARKS AND THE DISTANCE TO THE MARKS WAS VERIFIED. THE ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION IS NO LONGER ADEQUATE FOR SPEEDY RECOVERY AND A NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS. THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 9 MILES WEST OF ORANGEVILLE, 5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF MECCA, 3 MILES NORTHEAST OF CORTLAND AND ALONG THE MAIN TRACKS OF THE ERIE RAILROAD. THE STATION MARK, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED WEST BASE 1928, IS SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE POST WHICH PROJECTS ABOUT 6 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. IT IS IN THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF A SMALL PASTURE THAT CONTAINS A SMALL RESERVOIR. IT IS 18 METERS NORTH OF THE NORTH RAIL OF THE MAIN TRACK OF THE ERIE RAILROAD, 16 FEET WEST OF A NORTH-SOUTH FENCE LINE AND 12 FEET NORTH OF THE RAILROAD RIGHT OF WAY FENCE LINE. REFERENCE MARK 1, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED WEST BASE NO 1 1928, IS SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE POST THAT IS ABOUT 1 INCH BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. THE MARK IS NORTH OF THE STATION IN THE NORTH-SOUTH FENCE LINE AND 5 FEET SOUTH OF A LARGE TREE. REFERENCE MARK 2, A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED WEST BASE NO 2 1928, IS SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE POST THAT IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. THE MARK IS 4 FEET NORTH OF THE RAILROAD RIGHT OF WAY FENCE AND 1 FOOT NORTH OF THE SOUTHERLY GATE POST IN THE NORTH- SOUTH FENCE LINE WHICH LIES WEST OF THE STATION. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAYS 5 AND 46 ON THE SOUTH EDGE OF CORTLAND, GO NORTH ON STATE HIGHWAY 5 FOR 2.5 MILES TO A SIDE ROAD RIGHT JUST BEFORE REACHING A RAILROAD CROSSING. TURN RIGHT AND GO 1.7 MILES TO A SIDE ROAD LEFT, JUST BEFORE REACHING A FARM HOUSE. TURN LEFT AND GO 0.2 MILE TO A GATE ON THE LEFT, JUST NORTH OF THE RAILROAD TRACKS. TURN LEFT, PASSING THROUGH THE GATE, AND GO WEST FOR 0.1 MILE TO A GATE, PASS THROUGH THE GATE AND TURN SHARP LEFT TO THE STATION, ABOUT 20 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE GATE.

TAKE MAIN ST. 1.9 MILES (3.1 KM) OVER S.R. 11 UNTIL YOU REACH FIRST CROSS ROAD CALLED RIDGE ROAD, TURN LEFT ON RIDGE FOR 1.1 MILES (1.8 KM) TO BROWNLEE ROAD, TURN RIGHT FOLLOW BROWNLEE ROAD FOR .7 MILES (1.1 KM) TO A PRIVATE DRIVE, FOLLOW PRIVATE DRIVE FOR .2 MILES (0.3 KM) UNTIL YOU COME TO RAILROAD TRACKS, TURN LEFT FOR 200 YARDS TO THE STATION ON THE RIGHT. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION AND IS LOCATED 168.8'' NORTH OF THE STATION. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION AND IS LOCATED 180.9'' WSW OF THE STATION.
