We're on a road trip from Atlanta to Memphis to Chicago to Toronto and back to Atlanta. Of course we had to stop for a few caches. I do love caches that have nearby benchmarks. Unfortunately the post appears to be broken, but it is still identifiable.

Thanks!

Found. It is not the M on the road, but the granite marker off the road and down the hill and east of the M.

Found while at the tri-state marker.

found while going for the tristate caches and earning our #3000 milestone.

A lot of people believe the M marker in the middle of the street is the reference for this benchmark, but after reading the original data sheet, I found that not to be so. It is actually a stone marker in the ditch about 20 feet abeem the "M" marker. It is in rough shape, but the inscriptions are easily identifiable. See photos.

MPLC

From the description, this is the granite post benchmark. It has sustained some damage and is a bit shorter than described, but still recognizable as the mark. Because it was damaged, it may or may not be in the correct spot.

After visiting the marker from the historical society, I made the 130 foot walk to the actual tristate junction.

Very neat find. I just want to point out that this benchmark is NOT THE TRIPOINT! I noticed from many pictures taken here and on the tristate page that this thing is causing a lot of unfair confusion. It's too bad that the post is broken and sinking, otherwise you could read "INDIANA LINE 20 FEET WEST" on it!

Our first Benchmark. A long drive to get here but well worth it. A nice drive. We hope to get a lot more of these.

Went on cache run with with justoolingaround and AriEthan (we also met up with caylorman later in the day) today. We had a GREAT time! The weather was perfect, almost all of the caches we attempted were actually there and I walked away at the end of the day with forty cache finds! Our plan was simple in that we met for a nice, big breakfast. Then we were gong to cache through lunch and eat a large dinner at the end. Well, we met for breakfast and cached through lunch, but then schedules got a little tangled and we had to call it quits for the day. But we did have a lot of fun and made a lot of good Geocaching finds!

Found this one quickly, at least what's left of it!

Had a great time at this marker. The granite post is a little damaged.

It's great that everyone is posting images of the disk below the monument cover in the middle of the road, BUT THAT IS NOT THE BENCHMARK. If you read the description, you will note the benchmark is in a GRANITE BLOCK.

I have had this Benchmark on my to-do list for a long time and today was the day. Gathered up BAPMAN CREW and Paldog0603 for the find. BAPMAN CREW rode their Harley's threw Ohio helmetless with the wind flowing through their hair and Paldog and I rode in the comfort of the Chevy Pick-up. No bugs in our teeth. Found it while caching with our friends during MWGB.

Still there.

Found while at the Midwest Geobash with my son, WINSLMA, and my two grandsons. Decided to make a little side trip to Indiana and Michigan while there. Found the concrete benchmark along with along with the other two markers of the tri-state area. Thought about prying up the marker in the road, but didn't. Now that I've read other logs I wished that I had.

Benchmark found and in poor condition. Much of the benchmark broke off.

Many geocachers are not logging the correct marker on this benchmark. The correct benchmark is the stone post on the east side of the road (now broken), and NOT the newer tri-state marker in the monument box in the middle of the road. The correct benchmark was originally monumented in 1915, and the description and location of the benchmark is clearly stated in the Documented History below. A detailed description of the benchmark was made in 1932 and again in 1960. The monument box and the marker inside did not exist in 1915 or 1932. Just trying to assist others who want to be accurate and log the correct benchmark.

Found while camping at Pokagon State Park. TFTC!

I spotted this thinking of ideas for a family trip this Labor Day weekend. I saw 'Tristate Marker' and decided to make this the definition of our trip. We ended up visiting 48 caches in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio and scored 40 finds. The Benchmark was very cool and the whole gang love it.

Had a good time at this one with friends

Found while caching with Drewman1962, Tsmola and Johngie. This is the coolest benchmark we have found.

We found this one while on the Tri-State Marker Tour (TSMT) with Drewman1962, Team Geochef, and Tsmola. This day was full of fun, laughter and some of us getting to know each other real well. This is one of the best benchmarks that we have found. It rates up there with the tri-state marker we found in Kentucky, Tennessee and Virgina.

This is easily the coolest benchmark I've ever found. We had some difficulty removing the lid, but Team Geochef managed to pry it up and we had to rinse the mark with some water and dry it with a towl to remove the mud to see it, but all well worth it. Mark is in good shape.

Have driven over this several times and had no idea.......Thanks to reading the logs, we had a screwdriver ready to help us get the cover off. A little wet and muddy but the farmers are thankful for the rain! Thanks!

Found on our way home from Midwest Geobash. A family that lives nearby came down while we were grabbing the earth cache and showed this to us. The man said he had lived here is whole life and didn't realize the marker was below the road.

Found on our way to Cedar Point. Yep we found where it is but you will need to bring some tools to open the lid. There should really be a roadside park here. Edit. Now that I see the description I see we found this marker, the granite post in ok condition.

Found with Dad on the way to Cedar Point and yes it is paved over.

Found the spot where it was supposed to be. Probably has been paved over. Too bad. Verified this information with a couple other cachers who have been here before.

Found the site, but the marker is either gone or covered with the stone of the road.

Found during a little detour while on our way from MA to IL.

1 Benchmark

My very 1st Benchmark ever.

Cool location in the middle of basically no where lol.

This is our Geocaching in every state and dropping off a TB in each state. On our way to NY. This trip we did, IN, OH, MI, PA, NJ, NY, CT and only in 4 days.

Team Rocket from IL all found this together at 1:50 p.m. We thought that this was so cool to be in 3 states at one time. We all decided to take pictures of each other doing something different in all 3 states. Rocket and daughter put their feet in 2 states and 1 hand in the 3rd, Son did a push up in all 3 states over the marker, and hubby and I kissed over the marker.

What an AWESOME/COOL spot to be standing. I am so excited to say I stood in 3 states in one spot with my husband and kids. I can now die a happy women.:)
Found on the way home from thanksgiving dinner. Thanks for the Awesome cache.

Found it on the way home to Michigan from having Thanksgiving Dinner with family in Indiana. Found with Caching Chick and Team Hollis.

What a cool place to be. My wife and I are still talking about being able to stand in a spot and be in three states at once! Had a great time with the Mrs. and the kids taking photos even though it was getting pretty dark. I was told ahead of time to bring some tools to get to the marker in the road. Being dark - I looked in there and saw what appeared to be glass in nature. I touched it and realized it was dark brown water (and cold at that).

Thanks for having this and bringing us here.

found this BM when geocaching in the area!

So just to be clear here: since the post said "INDIANA LINE 20 FEET WEST" on it, the post itself is not the tri-state point, just a witness to it. The state corner is the disk in the middle of the road under the "M". But the post is the original from 1915, as bad condition as it is in.

This is a very cool benchmark, pryed the lid off and took a picture, would make a great benchmark coin.

I was with a group of cachers and we had a great time all over this one!

I like the actual boundary marker in the road (under the letter M in the road, bring a screwdriver or prybar to see it) better than the poor mangled benchmark.

Found this while at the Tri-State Marker Virtual cache. Will post pictures soon!

Right about the time I got down taking pictures of the virtual cache and the metal marker in the middle of the road, the camera failed on me. I don't think any amount of glue will put this humpty dumpty back together again.

Found in poor condition, the top of the monument has been busted off, the rest of the monument is solid in the ground. This mark is to the east of the N-S road which is where the true point for the 3 states lies, being 20 feet west of this marker location. There is a good parking area 130 feet north with a historic corner marker stone.

Found it while doing the Tristate Marker Cache.

Found it while doing the Tristate Marker Cache with Miss Mudslide and 4 Wheeling kid....we had a lot of fun with this one...always wanted to go out west where you can be in 4 states where the 4 corners meet...but haven't ever gotten there....but heck this is a close as I can get for now! :D TFT Benchmark!

Found this benchmark in a cool area. Doing a day of Geocaching with 4-wheeling kid and DustiRose from 9er bears. Took several pictures of this marker and of the Tri-State cache.

Found it while doing the Tristate Marker Cache with Miss Mudslide and DustiRose from 9er Bears. This was very cool. Maybe now I can talk DustiRose into visiting the place where the 4 corners of the four states meet. Sounds like a fun roadtrip to me!

Oh yeah, got this one for sure. Just adopted the Tristate Marker Cache.

Found at the same time as the nearby tristate marker. Thanks.

This was my first find before I was a registered user.

Found out about this one thanks to the Hillsdale Historical Society and their virtual cache.

Found this as a part of the Tristate Marker Virtual that is here. Pretty cool marker, being in 3 states in the same small space.
I also found Boundary Post 1. It's a mile or so east of this location, but it is not listed in this website. Also found Boundary Post 11 which does have an orange survey marker, but that's not listed here either.

Was passing through the area and found this location. The historical marker is in Michigan, and 130 South of it is an old broken stone marker and the surveyer monument in the center of the road.
