I have two inages: one is of the disc and the other is of the Red Gate Woods sign with the concrete setting holding the disc in the foreground

This is my first find and found it interesting! The benchmark was in a concrete hole exactly whre it should have been. I'm going to try and upload an image.

ABOUT 2.55 MILES SOUTHWEST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 4A FROM THE POST OFFICE AT WILLOW SPRINGS, ABOUT 0.2 MILE NORTHEAST OF THE JUNCTION OF 103RD STREET, AT THE JUNCTION OF THE ENTRANCE TO THE RED GATE WOODS PICNIC GROUNDS, ABOUT 200 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF A TWO-STORY HOUSE, 45 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 36 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE PROLONGED CENTER LINE OF THE ENTRANCE TO THE PICNIC GROUNDS, 33 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A POWER POLE AND IN LINE WITH THE ROW OF POLES, 1.5 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE FENCE LINE, 2 FEET NORTHEAST OF A WHITE WOODEN WITNESS POST, ABOUT LEVEL WITH THE HIGHWAY AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 4 INCHES.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
