Very easy to find and since i have a new GPS it showed me how accurate and reliable my device is.

This benchmark is easy to find as it is marked with an orange fiberglass witness post in the SW corner of the first intersection south of 183rd Street on Leclaire. My Magellan GPS-315 also recorded a height above sea level of 733 feet (+/- 13 feet)(NAD-83)

THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 3 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED LECLAIRE 2 1968. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 30 AND STATE HIGHWAY 50 (ABOUT 2 MILES WEST OF OLYMPIA FIELDS), GO NORTH ON HIGHWAY 50 FOR 2.5 MILES TO THE INTERSECTION OF 183RD STREET. TURN LEFT AND GO WEST ON 183RD STREET FOR 0.35 MILE TO THE STATION ON THE LEFT. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS 40 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF A GARAGE, 25 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF LECLAIRE AVE. AND 13 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A POWER POLE. Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in October 1999. No horizontal observational check was made to the station.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.) The vertical order pertains to the superseded datum.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
