Out with NathanZ98 for an awesome afternoon of caching. This one was a great find to help show better what these markers are for and how many are marked. Found it right where previous post had it located.

Easy to find with less snow on the ground, although CT's coordinates put us in the woods to the SE of the mark. Try the attached coords,

Those are the coords I got. Forget about looking by Gas City! I've gained a bit more experience seeking these things, so that came into play. Since there is less greenery around, you can see a plywood stick with marking tape sticking up on the east side of the road where this mark is. It seems to be in good condition.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
