Bench Mark E 74 was recovered in good condition.

This mark was NOT on the outside of a curve of the old road alignment, but about 45 feet northwest of the centerline of the old road alignment; about 285 feet southwest from the intersection of the old road alignment and new road alignment; at the bottom of a hill about 0.25 mile north of Lookout Point; and about 225 feet southwest of the barricade for the old road alignment.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1934 16.5 MI E FROM SLATER, CO. IN CARBON COUNTY, WYOMING, 16.5 MILES EAST ALONG THE ENCAMPMENT ROAD FROM SLATER, MOFFAT COUNTY, COLORADO, 0.3 MILE WEST OF THE SANDSTONE RANGER STATION, AT THE FOOT OF A HILL IMMEDIATELY BELOW LOOK-OUT POINT, ON THE OUTSIDE OF A CURVE, 85 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A SIGNPOST READING BATTLE CREEK 2 MI., 72 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A SIGNPOST READING SMOKERS CAUSE FIRE, AND 42 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED E 74 1934 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
