Found while grabbing <a href="http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=5df4ae05-37b7-4502-941f-08e3d768ca7d">Bridger Peak</a>, right before a massive torrential downpour started. Luckily, I grabbed a picture!

Found this one with Gumpydog.

Found as described by NGS, 1993. Indicates 1937 date.
I think it says No. 3, also, but I didn't photo this, and forgot to write it down.

DESCRIBED BY US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY 1937 (FGJ) STATION IS LOCATED 1-1/2 MILES SOUTH AND 12-1/4 MILES WEST OF ENCAMPMENT, WYOMING, ON BRIDGER PEAK. IT IS ABOUT 3 MILES NORTHWEST OF BAGGS-ENCAMPMENT ROAD. STATION IS ON TOP OF A CONICAL MOUND OF ROCKS, 17.24 FEET WSW OF A STONE LOOKOUT HOUSE, NOW ABANDONED. REACHED FROM DIXON BY GOING EAST ON ENCAMPMENT ROAD FOR 5.1 MILES TO SAVERY POST OFFICE. THENCE CONTINUE ON ENCAMPMENT ROAD FOR 4.75 MILES TO SLATER POST OFFICE. THENCE CONTINUE EAST ON ENCAMPMENT ROAD FOR 0.9 MILES TO A FORK. THENCE STRAIGHT AHEAD ON LEFT FORK EASTERLY FOR 2.8 MILES TO A FORK. THENCE THENCE LEFT FORK NORTH FOR 3.9 MILES AND A SIDE ROAD RIGHT AND A SIGN READING ENCAMPMENT 36 MILES-SLATER 7 MILES. THENCE TURN RIGHT AND GO EAST AND NORTH ON ENCAMPMENT ROAD FOR 9.4 MILES TO A SIGN POINTING TO SANDSTONE RANGER STATION ON LEFT. THENCE CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD 1.0 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD LEFT AND A SIGN READING RAWLINS 57 MI. THENCE CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD EASTERLY ON ENCAMPMENT ROAD FOR 11.8 MILES TO A DIM SIDE ROAD TO LEFT AND A SIGN READING BRIDGER PEAK 4 MILES, (THIS SIGN IS 0.45 MILE WEST OF CONTINENTAL DIVIDE). THENCE LEAVE THE MAIN ROAD AND TURN LEFT AND GO NORTH AND EAST ALONG TOP OF DIVIDE FOR 3.7 MILES OVER ROUGH TRAIL ROAD TO BASE OF PEAK ABOUT 100 YARDS FROM LOOKOUT HOUSE. STATION MARK IS USGS STANDARD TRIANGULATION DISC STAMPED M-29-1934. AZIMUTH MARK IS LOCATED ABOUT 0.6 MILE ESE OF STATION. IT IS STAMPED BRIDGER-1937. MARK IS ABOUT 40 YARDS EAST OF THE ROAD AT POINT WHERE ROAD STARTS UP A STEEP INCLINE. THE MARK IS 40 FEET NORTH OF AN OLD TRAMWAY DERRICK.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1948 (DHK) THE STATION WAS RECOVERED. THE STATION MARK HAD BEEN LOOSENED AND REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 WAS DESTROYED. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION. A NEW STATION MARK WAS SET IN APPROXIMATELY THE SAME LOCATION AS THE ORIGINAL MARK. REFERENCE MARK NO. 3 WAS ESTABLISHED. THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 12 MILES SOUTH OF WEST OF ENCAMPMENT ON THE TOP OF BRIDGER PEAK, THE TOP OF WHICH IS A CONICAL MOUND OF LOOSE ROCK. THE STATION MARK PROJECTS 4 INCHES, IS SET 28 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE HIGHEST POINT OF PEAK, 17 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF ROCK LOOKOUT HOUSE, NOW ABANDONED. IT IS 12 FEET SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF A WHITE WITNESS POST AND IS STAMPED, BRIDGER USGS 1937. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 PROJECTS 3 INCHES, IS SET 20 FEET SOUTH OF THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF LOOKOUT HOUSE, 2 FEET LOWER THAN THE STATION MARK. IT IS STAMPED, BRIDGER NO 1 USGS 1937. REFERENCE MARK NO. 3 IS SET FLUSH 18 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE LOOKOUT HOUSE, 2 FEET LOWER THAN THE STATION MARK. IT IS STAMPED, BRIDGER NO 3 1948. THE AZIMUTH MARK PROJECTS 14 INCHES, IS SET 40 PACES NORTHEAST OF A ROAD, 1 FOOT EAST OF A WHITE WITNESS POST NEAR AN OLD DERRICK. IT IS STAMPED, BRIDGER USGS 1937. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN ENCAMPMENT. GO WEST 0.2 MILE, THEN SOUTH 0.2 MILE TO A GRAVEL ROAD. CONTINUE WEST ON GRAVEL ROAD 12.1 MILES TO SUMMIT AND SIGN, CONTINENTAL DIVIDE. CONTINUE 0.45 MILE TO A ROAD RIGHT AT SIGN, BRIDGER PEAK 4. TURN RIGHT, GO 0.05 MILE TO A ROAD LEFT, JUST AFTER CROSSING A DITCH. TURN LEFT, GO 2.85 MILES TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON RIGHT. CONTINUE 0.4 MILE TO TOP OF RIDGE THEN LEFT TO BASE OF MOUND OF ROCK. WALK SOUTH UP TRAIL ABOUT 100 YARDS TO TOP OF MOUND AND STATION AT LOOKOUT HOUSE.

STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 22 KM (13.65 MI) WEST-SOUTHWEST OF RIVERSIDE, 19 KM (11.80 MI) NORTH OF THE WYOMING-COLORADO STATE LINE, ON THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE, IN THE MEDICINE BOW NATIONAL FOREST, ON BRIDGER PEAK, A BARE PEAK COVERED WITH BROKEN QUARTZSITE ROCKS, ON THE WEST SIDE OF ROCK FOUNDATION OF OLD LOOKOUT HOUSE (A SMALL METAL BUILDING HOUSING AN AUTOMATED WEATHER SERVICE UNIT (AWAS) IS ON THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF THE FOUNDATION), ON THE DIVIDE LINE BETWEEN SECTIONS 14/15, T 14 N, R 86 W. OWNERSHIP--US DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE. TO REACH FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAYS 70 AND 230 IN RIVERSIDE, GO SOUTH ON HIGHWAY 70 FOR 1.38 KM (0.85 MI) TO THE ENCAMPMENT POST OFFICE. CONTINUE ON HIGHWAY 70 FOR 9.95 KM (6.20 MI) TO A CATTLE GUARD AT PAVEMENT END JUST PAST A PAVED ROAD LEFT. CONTINUE WESTERLY ON HIGHWAY 70 FOR 9.69 KM (6.00 MI) TO THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE. CONTINUE AHEAD, DOWNHILL, FOR 0.71 KM (0.45 MI) TO A DIRT ROAD RIGHT ON THE OUTSIDE OF A CURVE. TURN RIGHT, NORTHEAST, ON FOREST SERVICE ROAD 429 FOR 0.11 KM (0.05 MI) TO A THREE-WAY FORK IN A CLEARING. BEAR LEFT, ON ROAD 429 FOR 20 M (65.6 FT) TO A TRACK ROAD LEFT. TURN LEFT, NORTHWEST, ON ROAD 419 (VERY ROUGH TRACK ROAD) FOR 5.53 KM (3.45 MI) TO A TRACK ROAD LEFT AT TOP OF RIDGE.   • The horizontal coordinates were established by GPS observations and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in October 1994.
  • The orthometric height was determined by GPS observations and a high-resolution geoid model.
  • The X, Y, and Z were computed from the position and the ellipsoidal ht.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The ellipsoidal height was determined by GPS observations and is referenced to NAD 83.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
