DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1984 17.5 KM (10.9 MI) NW FROM PROMONTORY. 1.58 KM (0.98 MI) NORTH ALONG A PAVED ROAD FROM THE GOLDEN SPIKE MONUMENT IN PROMONTORY, THENCE 15.97 KM (9.93 MI) WEST ALONG A GRAVEL ROAD, AT THE SOUTH EDGE OF A LARGE GROUP OF SAGEBRUSH, ON THE NORTH SLOPE OF A HILL, 0.79 KM (0.49 MI) SOUTHEAST OF THE T JUNCTION OF A ROAD LEADING SOUTHWEST TO THE OLD CENTRAL PACIFIC RAILROAD BED, 20.4 METERS (67 FT) NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF THE ROAD AND ABOUT 45.7 METERS (150 FT) NORTHWEST OF THE CREST OF THE HILL. THE MARK IS 0.5 METERS SE FROM A WITNESS POST. THE MARK IS 0.5 M BELOW THE ROAD.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
