From the description, I am guessing this near the RR tracks which are at least a couple hundred feet away from the coordinates. Things seem to line up there, and I searched around with no luck. See photos with attached description excerpts. My wife said that none of this was around from 1934 (date of last description).

I found what looked like a very well-defined drill hole at the location the coords brought me to. If you look at the picture that CDix provided, the spot I found appears to be almost exactly where CDix was standing when snapping the photo.

I agree the park appears to be where the BM would have been. However, there is a patch of grass where the town has put in a concrete slab, perhaps they will be replacing the benchmark!

Couldn't find the benchmark. The coordinates and description seem to place it in the middle of this Memorial park. I attached a photo of the park.

This seems to be where the MY0649 Disk should have been.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in 1992. * This is a POSTED BENCH MARK height. Code A indicates a distribution rate of 0.0 thru 1.0 mm/km.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
