Note to self...might not be a benchmark disc in the pic...that looks like a manhole cover..but I'd be wary of going over to where the coords are...there might be no good reason for anyone but an employee to be there.

I've stood by this for years while I wait for my train and had no idea what it was!

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1978 IN FRAMINGHAM. 0.1 MILE WEST OF THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAYS 135 AND 126 IN FRAMINGHAM TO THE MARK ON THE RIGHT, 300 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE RAILROAD STATION, 29 FEET NORTH OF A RAIL- ROAD SIGNAL BOX, 27 FEET SOUTH OF THE SOUTH RAIL OF SPUR TRACK, 4 FEET SOUTH OF POWER POLE WITH THREE GUY WIRES.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values. The observed gravity was obtained from relative gravimeter ties to the IGSN71 gravity network.
