found this while on the sunrise cache

Actually found this last year before I started Geocacheing. Took the pic because I thought it looked important.

Found while on top attending a sunrise event. All is well.

We happened to find this benchmark as we hiked up Peaked Mountain for the first time. We didn't even know there was a benchmark up there.

With ladyslipper57. Have been seeing these two markers for 2-1/2 years and only now know that only one is a benchmark (strictly speaking a magnetic station) and the other (RM 3) is an associated reference mark. From earlier logs I have also learned that there are two more reference marks, so we'll make a point of looking for them in the future.

Found this while attending the Wake Up! It's Time to Go Caching sunrise event on Peaked Mt. today. Beautiful sunrise.

Found this benchmark at the top of Peaked Mt. with drsprite and speedy314

Found while caching with fcorrao and drsprite.

Found station and RM-2.

Found station a while ago while up for a geocache. Came back today to find all the points. Found station and RM 3 easily, found remains of RM 1. Took a little digging around before finding RM2.

Found while hiking the mountain for its anual birthday run/hike.

Found while looking for Horde of the Rings cache. A little snow on the ground but this one was out in the open. Wasn't able to locate any other benchmarks under the snow.

Found Benchmark while at the peak searching for teh Horde of the Rings Cache.

Recovered the station, RM2, and RM 3 in good condition. RM 1 recovered in poor condition: the disk is missing but the stem remains in the drill hole.

At least I think it was.

I snapped a shot of #2 while up here after The Horde Of the Rings, just now getting around to logging it. Views were good that day, but the area got an early coat of snow (melting as I was there) the day before.

Found it along with its partner .

Spent a quiet Thanksgiving home had a nice dinner. Weather was still good outside so I suggested that we take in a benchmark and geocache hike to Peaked Mountain which is about a half-hour ride away. Boy - that was a mistake on a full stomach!

We went to the Trustees' parking location on Butler Road. There are trail guides available at this location for further exploration. As you would expect on a holiday there were also a lot of people parked in the lot and a group that had just arrived before us on their way to the summit.

The station was found as described - see photos.

We also proceeded to the Horde of the Rings cache (GCA873) which is nearby.

I too, have found PEAKED MT 2. Elevation is listed at 1220 ft, my GPSr hovered around 1238 ft. Note the chiseled design in the stone around the disk. This replicates the pattern of the disk itself. [green] GM [/green]

Control Text

 • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1998.
 • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
 • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
 • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
