Spotted a number of benchmarks while up on Mount Holyoke checking out the views and getting a geocache.

Spotted in my short visit to the summit. I met a locked gate at 0847 and should have waited till it opened at 0900. Instead and I huffed and puffed up the road and then up the very steep trail to here. After nabbing the virtuals and taking in the sites, I ventured to the house and then to these disks. Great views today and so far I kinda have the area to myself.

En visitant cette montagne on en profite pour visiter tout les Benchmark,Waymark et caches accessibles en auto.

I hiked to the top of Mount Holyoke today as the auto road is still closed for the season. I went up to get my 2000th milestone find, but I always look for these survey disk in my travels. The three disk were embedded in the rocky summit next to the summit house.

Have visited many times and finally getting around to logging.

My first benchmark! What a beautiful view from here!

Found 9/17/15, was at JA skinner park with my mom and second cousin. A beautiful day to be here and a beautiful view to boot. Found 3 reference points and will be logging the other two soon.

Very cool - haven't been here since 1986!

I remember coming up here as a kid. Found today with the GLC.

visiting western MA with several geocaching friends and nabbed a few benchmarks along the way

Recovered with two of RM disks and spike. Someone was sitting on the third RM disk (in retrospect and looking at previous logs/photos) and so, I did not spot that one. Triangulation station is in roughest shape (pitted, scratched) but still decent. Other disks are in good condition.

Today we saw the triangulation disk, reference mark 1 and reference mark 2. All three are quite close together, right at a cool vista by a corner of the Summit House.

Went out trying to find interesting areas to see. Decided to try benchmarks. GPS bounced a little but found both triangluations and this one so am going to record all three

Found all four (main, Ref 1, 2 and 3). It was a mostly cloudy day but pleasant. We encountered a quick shower in Holyoke that day. When we arrived there were a lot of people walking to their cars, and the small lot was chaotic for a little while as they tried to pull out all at once, but after they left, it was quiet, with only a few people around. I've seen the disks on the cliff edge before, but this was before I did benchmarking!

Breathtaking view from this place.

Stumbled on this at the park today...

Found the two disks at the top of Mt Holyoke while out caching with OleSeeker - we were mostly interested in the nearby RAM Cache as part of the "Oldest in Massachusetts" challenge. Took pictures of both disks - uploaded a picture standing right above one of the disks to the RAM Cache log already - see http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/e5ba2725-458a-4bca-b50a-6b47d088a6bc.jpg

Dug out some old pictures in order to log this benchmark -- visited the site in October 2009 with gw0143 but never got around to logging our find. So I'm logging it belatedly from Jan. 2012. Incredible views that day and nice to find a triangulation station disk with 3 reference mark disks all intact.

Visiting the Summit House in Skinner State Park.

We noticed that there were two discs but since we have only done a couple of benchmarks we chose the disc that said Benchmark on it to take the picture with out GPS. We might have taken the picture with the wrong disc. Our caching friend had an iPhone that she used to take the picture with for us. Since we aren't familiar with the download procedure, we will attach the picture as soon as we find out how.

Benchmark in great shape. My 8 year old son stumbled across this one while exploring today.

BM in great shape. Nice view!

Came across benchmark pic while categorizing discs and wanted to post now.

In the area from CA on business. As many have logged previously, the station and all three RM's are in good condition. Beautiful location. Worth the scenic drive up to the top for the benchmarks and geocaches.

Nice view

Hiked up road then trail from closed gate today just before sunset. Nearly at top when sun went away. Approximately 0.7 miles each way and about 37 stories worth of elevation change. Found 1 reference mark and the triangulation station along with a drill hole. Must tell all, especially benchmarkfreak, that apparently on Thursdays that C5 flies a large orbit of about 10-15 minutes. I can see it very low on the horizon from the Walmart in Leominster 44 miles away.

We came up to log the eartcache and found this while there.

Found while caching with the family around the Summit House.

The station, RM 1, RM 2, and RM 3 were recovered in good condition. Just because I needed a little exercise, I hiked in from the Visitor's Center in the 'Notch' on Rt 116 - up over Bald Mountain, Hitchcock, the Seven Sisters, to the Mt Holyoke summit. Naturally after I took photos of the marks, I hiked all the way back. Of course I could have driven up to summit of Mt Holyoke via the auto road, but that doesn't burn very many calories.
