Benchmark hunting with hoboferret. Scaled coords were off by about 150 ft, but close enough to find the bridge. I would call it's location the "southeast" abutment. The image showing the actual coordinates is still in hoboferret's camera. Will try to recover that and update this entry.

Edited to add waypoint and picture of GPSr showing coords.

As mentioned before, this is pretty beat up. But the description matches and unless there's another mark within 150 feet this is NB1327.

These RR marks are tough, and this one has little description to go on. I believe the tracks here are labeled in a North/South configuration, even though at this location they are actually going East/West. This happens with roads a lot, where you get on the interstate and you can take RTE East or West, and its confusing, because where you are getting on is a North/South part of the road.

That being said, I believe the East side of the bridge, would be considered the North Side. Making it the North Abutment. The mark is found in the "Back Wall" meaning the "South side" of the abutment.

On the left side of the tracks? Well, that depends on what way you are facing. Description calls for an NGS Benchmark, so I did not look for a drill hole, or chiseled square. Believe this mark to be found.

Believe this to be the disk in question. It looks pretty stable, just nicked up.

Looking West, Disk is in lower left corner (Left side of tracks).

Looking East, disk is in lower right corner. (Right side of tracks).

Found in good condition.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
