DESCRIBED BY ERIE COUNTY NEW YORK 1973 (TA) STATION IS LOCATED ON THE EAST SLOPE OF VERMONT HILL IN THE TOWN OF WALES ABOUT 3.6 MILES SOUTH OF THE COMMUNITY OF WALES CENTER. IT IS ALSO 5.0 MILES SOUTHEAST OF THE VILLAGE OF EAST AURORA. IT IS ALSO 1.7 MILES EAST OF THE WALES-AURORA TOWN LINE. TO REACH FROM THE INTERSECTION OF CENTER LINE ROAD AND HUNTERS CREEK ROAD, WHICH IS LOCATED 2.25 MILES DUE SOUTH OF THE COMMUNITY OF WALES CENTER, GO SOUTH ON HUNTERS CREEK ROAD FOR 1.0 MILES TO THE JUNCTION OF WARNER HILL ROAD. TURN RIGHT AND GO WEST ON WARNER HILL ROAD FOR 0.9 MILES TO THE JUNCTION OF VERMONT HILL ROAD. TURN LEFT AND GO SOUTHEAST ON VERMONT HILL ROAD FOR 0.25 MILES AND THE STATION MARK ON THE LEFT AT A LARGE BARN. STATION MARK IS A STANDARD ERIE COUNTY SURVEY DISK SET IN A ROUND CONCRETE POST 3 INCHES BELOW THE GROUND. THE DISK IS STAMPED WAL-WHI-2 1973. AN UNDERGROUND MARK WAS ESTABLISHED AND STAMPED THE SAME. SEE DESCRIPTION SHEET FOR WAL-WHI-1 1973.   • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in January 1999.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
