While green nikki and I were geocaching on Presque Isle, we had a list of benchmarks to keep an eye out for. We've recently added this interest and endeavor to our activities. We didn't spot them all but are happy to log the ones we confirmed at the location.

This was a new type of benchmark for me...glad OddMushroom and I began looking for these.

Spotted this one today while caching in the area.

Stopped and had a snack right near this BM light

Found this benchmark while on here attempting The Fellowship of the Ring cache. Saw this mark while observing some crazy folk out para-sailing, in January, LOL. Found in good condition.

Presque Isle Park Light 6 was recovered in good condition. It has been renumbered as Light 2.

Mark was found on location in good condition. There is no Daymark 6. It is the light above Daymark 2.

RECOVERY NOTE BY US POWER SQUADRON 1996 RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in January 1999. No horizontal observational check was made to the station.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
