Found during my lunch break today while looking for a nearby cache. Construction crews posed absolutely no problem. Many thanks.

Saw this during the annual Belle Isle event.

Out with Team-Gates, allenite, and Trustworthy. When we told Trustworthy to meet us by the radio towers, we meant the parking lot. He actually found a way to drive his car into the fenced area!

The pictures were taken on leaving the Isle. Glad Rattrak had his camera to snap the shots.

Hi found whilst out with rattrak and lucyinthesky caching on belle isle today. Rattrak took a picture from the van.

Out with Lucyinthesky & Repton Rompers on a cold day. This picture shows 2 benchmarks. This one is the one on the right.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1957 (WNM) THE STATIONS ARE THE RED LIGHTS ON THE TOP OF THE MASTS OF THE DETROIT POLICE DEPARTMENT, LOCATED ON THE SOUTHWEST END OF BELLE ISLE, ABOUT 0.2 MILE SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHEAST END OF THE BRIDGE THAT CROSSES THE DETROIT RIVER. THEY ARE A 4 LEGGED, GUYED STEEL STRUCTURE, COLORED IN ALTERNATE SECTIONS OF RED AND WHITE. THE NORTHEAST MAST IS ABOUT 100 FEET NORTHEAST OF A RED BRICK BUILDING AND IS 160 FEET HIGH. THE SOUTHWEST MAST IS ABOUT 50 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE RED BRICK BUILDING AND IS 210 FEET HIGH.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in February 1997.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
