Windy indeed! Found while getting the near by geocache. Found while getting the nearby geocache.

Windy as heck! Happened upon this whilst hanging out at the lookout before finding a nearby cache.

This marker is very easy to find once you've reached the summit of South Mountain. I was able to drive to the townsite of South Mountain, where the road was blocked by snow. From there it was an easy hike on good snow to the top. Very windy day however. The views from the top are expansive and the lookout platform makes them even better.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in July 1992.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
