Dragged my muggle father out on this gorgeous day for a drive....and some caching! He still can't figure it all out, but was more than willing to let me have my fun. Thanks for the two-fer!

Learned something new today! I did not know anything about benchmarking and I have seen a few before but didn't know to log them. Now I will do it each time! Thanks for the education!

Always enjoyed spying these, now (thanks to the nearby cache) I know they can be logged! Neat!

Found this one after visiting Popham Beach and fort. Found the nearby cache. Didn't think with the snow I would find it, but it was right there.

Very windy and cold when we found the benchmark close by a cache.

found this by complete accident! this trip was not planned so we didn't have any idea how close we were to a few potential caches! climbed all over fort Baldwin having no idea a cache was nearby.

On my way back from a glorious sunny, yet windy day at Popham Beach. Pretty spot! Thank you for setting it out!

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
