DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1942 (PLB) THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 11.0 MILES NW OF SYRACUSE, 4.5 MILES S OF PHOENIX, AND 1.0 MILE E OF BALDWINSVILLE, ON A BARE ROUND TOP HILL AND NEAR THE TWO CITY WATER SUPPLY STANDPIPES, ON PROPERTY OWNED BY THE TOWN OF BALDWINSVILLE. IT IS 0.1 MILE S OF STATE ROUTE 31, 34.5 FEET S OF THE SMALLEST OF THE TWO STANDPIPES, AND 19 FEET W OF THE LARGEST OF THE TWO STANDPIPES. THE DISK IS STAMPED BALDWIN 1942, AND PROJECTS 2 INCHES. SURFACE, UNDERGROUND, REFERENCE, AND AZIMUTH MARKS ARE BRONZE DISKS SET IN CONCRETE, AS DESCRIBED IN NOTES 1A, 7A, AND 11A. REFERENCE MARK NO.1 IS N OF THE STATION, 40 FEET NE OF THE HIGHEST STANDPIPE, AND 15 FEET N OF THE CENTER OF FARM ROAD. THE DISK IS STAMPED BALDWIN NO. 1 1942, AND PROJECTS 3 INCHES. REFERENCE MARK NO.2 IS WNW OF THE STATION, SET IN THE S SIDE OF THE BRUSH LINE IN THE E-AND-W FENCE LINE, 100 FEET WNW OF THE W STANDPIPE. THE DISK IS STAMPED BALDWIN NO. 2 1942, AND PROJECTS 6 INCHES. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS ABOUT 0.3 MILE S OF THE STATION, 30 FEET N OF THE CENTER OF STATE ROUTE 370 SET IN THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER, 10 FEET S OF A SINGLE STRAND WIRE FENCE. THE DISK IS STAMPED BALDWIN 1942, AND PROJECTS 2 INCHES. TO REACH FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE ROUTES 31 AND 370 IN BALDWINSVILLE. GO SE ON 370 FOR 0.75 MILE TO THE MARK ON THE LEFT AS DESCRIBED, 0.05 MILE SE OF A LARGE RED BARN AND SILO ON THE LEFT. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE RAILROAD STATION IN BALDWINSVILLE. GO E ON STATE ROUTE 31 FOR 0.7 MILE TO THE TOP OF THE HILL AND DRIVEWAY RIGHT LEADING TO AN OLD ABANDONED HOUSE. TURN RIGHT INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND GO S FOR 0.1 MILE TO THE SITE OF THE TWO STANDPIPES AND STATION. NOTE--A 64-FOOT TOWER REQUIRED TO CLEAR ALL LINES. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 23 METERS.

RECOVERY NOTE BY LOCAL SURVEYOR (INDIVIDUAL OR FIRM) 1967 RECOVERED BY BRUCE H. QUACKENBUSH., LAND SURVEYOR. STATION RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. AZIMUTH MARK AND REFERENCE MARKS WERE NOT SEARCHED FOR. THE HILL ON WHICH THE STATION IS LOCATED IS NOW COVERED WITH 15 FOOT GROWTH AND A SMALL PLANTING OF SCOTCH PINE ALSO ABOUT 15 FEET TALL. THE DESCRIPTION IS OTHERWISE ADEQUATE.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NY DEPT OF TRANSP 1973 STATION AND R.M. NOS. 1 AND 2 WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE AZIMUTH MARK WAS NOT SEARCHED FOR. THE DIRECTIONS ARE ADEQUATE.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NY DEPT OF TRANSP 1974 STATION MARK AND BOTH REFERENCE MARKS WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. AZIMUTH MARK WAS NOT FOUND, AND IS BELIEVED DESTROYED BY ROAD WIDENING AND CONSTRUCTION OF NEW HOMES. DISTANCE AND ANGLES TO REFERENCE MARKS WERE NOT CHECKED. VIEW FROM STATION IS BLOCKED FROM NORTHWEST AROUND CLOCKWISE TO EAST BY TREES AND WATER TANKS. THE REMAINDER IS OPEN. STATION MARK IS A STANDARD DISK STAMPED BALDWIN 1942, SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT PROJECTING 1 INCH. IT IS IN THE SOUTH END OF THE ROAD LOOP SURROUNDING THE TANKS AND TREE GROVE. RM NO.1 IS A STANDARD DISK STAMPED BALDWING NO 1 1942, SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT PROJECTING 2 INCHES. RM NO.2 IS A STANDARD DISK STAMPED BALDWIN NO 2 1942, SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT PROJECTING 2 INCHES. TO REACH STATION FROM INTERSECTION OF N.Y. RTES. 48 AND 31 IN CENTER OF BALDWINSVILLE, GO EAST ON RTE. 31 FOR 0.3 MILE TO FORK. CONTINUE ON N.Y. RTE. 31, LEFT FORK, FOR 0.9 MILE TO TRACK ROAD RIGHT. GO RIGHT FOR 0.15 MILE TO STATION AT SOUTH OF WATER TANKS.
