A wonderful hike with family and friends. The kids were quick to spot this embedded in concrete and ask what it was. I was excited to log it.

Stumbled upon on are way to Fish's Spawn. Excellent view of Niagara Falls from here. First Benchmark we have found.

This National Ocean Survey benchmark disk was an easy find - as it is located in a small open rock/sand outcropping near the shore of the Niagara River. When recovered today, someone had written on the disk with white paint/marker. I was able to get most of it off - so that at least it was somewhat legible. Stupid kids.

The mark was recovered in good condition as described. The mark is stamped with 'H-63-NY' and the date: 1980.

Found while out geocaching on Grand Island

Recovered in good condition

Our first benchmark! We found this while doing Claireux's Treasure. We'll have to look for more!

Yep, I also spotted this one while doing the nearby Seaway Trail cache. Appears to still be in good condition.

Out looking for the new SeaWay geocaches and stumbled across this Benchmark.

out looking for fish spawn cache. Great place to admire the river. Also, note the "island" across from this marker. I believe this is an artificial breakwall built as part of the Robert Moses Power Plant, to divert river flow twards the power plant intake structure (visible about 1.5 mile downstream on opposite shoreline.

Caching and Benchmarking on Grand Island. Found hiking out to the Fish's Spawn cache.

Do FTF's count on benchmarks? I found this benchmark totally by accident while finding a nearby geocache. It's in a beautiful area!
