ON LAND BELONGING TO THE SHANNAHAN ESTATE. THE STATION MARK IS AT TOP OF HILL IN PASTURE LAND, IN GROVE OF OAK TREES. 0.6 MILES EAST OF STATE HIGHWAY NO. 135 AT POINT WHERE NO. 135 TURNS NORTH. 25 YARDS NORTH OF CENTER-LINE OF EAST AND WEST GRAVEL ROAD BETWEEN ADAMS AND SAUK COUNTIES. 50 YARDS NORTHEAST OF GRAVEL PIT ON SOUTH SIDE OF ROAD. 35 FEET NORTH OF NORTH EDGE OF ROAD CUT AT FENCE LINE. THE MARK PROJECTS 6 INCHES. SURFACE, UNDERGROUND, REFERENCE, AND AZIMUTH MARKS ARE BRONZE TABLETS SET IN CONCRETE. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS SOUTHWEST OF THE STATION. 10 FEET NORTH OF NORTH EDGE OF ROAD CUT. 1 FOOT NORTH OF NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY FENCE LINE. THE MARK PROJECTS 2 INCHES. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS NORTHNORTHWEST OF THE STATION. 12 FEET SOUTHEAST OF DOUBLE TRUNK OAK TREE. THE MARK PROJECTS 2 INCHES. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE REFERENCE MARKS IS 100.17 FEET. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS EASTSOUTHEAST OF THE STATION AT EAST SIDE OF GRAVEL ROAD, WHICH IS THE SECOND ROAD LEADING SOUTHEAST OF THE STATION. 0.2 MILE SOUTH OF FRAME CHURCH BUILDING AT CROSS ROADS. CONTINUE EAST ON 135 2.6 MILES TO T-INTERSECTION. THENCE NORTH ON 135 0.65 MILE TO T-INTERSECTION AT SCHOOL. THENCE EAST ON 135 0.1 MILE TO WHERE 135 TURNS NORTH AND GRAVEL ROAD CONTINUES EAST. GO THROUGH GATE AT NORTH SIDE OF GRAVEL ROAD AND FOLLOW LANE EAST 0.6 MILE TO TOP OF HILL IN PASTURE AND STATION. A 100-FOOT SIGNAL AT COENS IS VISIBLE AT 37 FEET. A 4-FOOT SIGNAL AT SHEEP 1930 IS VISIBLE AT 37 FEET. THE BLUE MOUND LOOKOUT TOWER IS VISIBLE AT 37 FEET. A 100-FOOT SIGNAL AT DIVIDE 1930 IS VISIBLE AT 20 FEET. RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1958 (GWM) THE STATION, REFERENCE MARKS 1 AND 2 AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE REFERENCE MEASUREMENTS TO THE REFERENCE MARKS CHECKED. THE MEASUREMENTS TO THE REFERENCE MARKS CHECKED. THE DIRECTION TO REFERENCE MARK 1 CHECKED BUT THE DIRECTION TO REFERENCE MARK 2 DID NOT CHECK BY 1 MINUTE AND 1 SECOND. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN REFERENCE MARK 1 AND REFERENCE MARK 2 CHECKED. THE GRAVELED ROAD MENTIONED AS A REFERENCE MEASUREMENT TO THE STATION IS NOW A PAVED ROAD. THE GRAVEL PIT MENTIONED IS NO LONGER THERE. THE POWERLINE MENTIONED BY THE AZIMUTH MARK HAS BEEN CHANGED AND THE MEASUREMENT TO THE POWER POLE HAS CHANGED. DIRT HAS SETTLED AROUND THE AZIMUTH MARK AND REFERENCE MARK 2 AND BOTH ARE NOW FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. A COMPLETE NEW TO REACH AND DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS. THE STATION IS ABOUT 4.0 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF WISCONSIN DELLS, IN THE SOUTHEAST 1/4 OF SEC. 31, T-14-N, R-7-E, ON LAND OWNED BY OCTAVIA SHANNAHAN. IT IS IN A GROVE OF OAK TREES AT THE TOP OF A HILL IN PASTURE LAND. IT IS 73 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE PAVED ROAD BETWEEN ADAMS AND SAUK COUNTIES, 46 FEET NORTH OF A TELEPHONE POLE, 39 FEET WEST OF AN 8 INCH OAK TREE, 34 FEET NORTH OF A WIRE FENCE AND 2 FEET WEST OF A WHITE WITNESS POST. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 6 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED SHANNAHAN 1935 TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE CENTER OF THE BRIDGE OVER THE WISCONSIN RIVER IN WISCONSIN DELLS, GO EAST ON U.S. HIGHWAY 16 (BROADWAY) FOR 1.0 MILE TO THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 16 AND STATE HIGHWAYS 13 AND 23. CONTINUE EAST ON STATE HIGHWAY 23 FOR 2.1 MILES TO THE JUNCTION OF HIGHWAY 23 AND COUNTY HIGHWAY O. TURN LEFT AND GO NORTH ON HIGHWAY 23 FOR 0.7 MILE TO A CROSSROAD AT THE COUNTY LINE BETWEEN ADAMS AND SAUK COUNTIES. TURN RIGHT AND GO EAST ON A PAVED ROAD FOR 0.4 MILE TO A LONE OAK TREE AND A WIRE GATE ON THE LEFT. TURN LEFT THROUGH GATE AND THEN RIGHT AND FOLLOW FARM LANE TO THE TOP OF THE HILL AND THE STATION. TO REACH THE AZIMUTH MARK FROM THE STATION, GO EAST ON THE PAVED ROAD FOR 0.75 MILE TO A CROSSROAD. TURN RIGHT AND GO SOUTH ON A PAVED ROAD FOR 0.2 MILE TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE LEFT. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS 49 FEET WEST OF A TELEPHONE POLE, 46 FEET EAST OF 18 INCH TWIN OAK TREES, 40 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE PAVED ROAD AND 1 FOOT NORTH OF A WIRE FENCE. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 2 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED SHANNAHAN NO 1 1935. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS 69 FEET NORTH-NORTHWEST OF A WHITE WITNESS POST, 13 FEET WEST OF A 12 INCH OAK TREE AND 12 FEET SOUTHEAST OF TWIN OAK TREES. THE MONUMENT IS FLUSH AND THE DISK IS STAMPED SHANNAHAN NO 2 1935. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS 69 FEET NORTH OF A POWER POLE, 25 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF A PAVED ROAD AND 1.5 FEET SOUTH OF A WHITE WITNESS POST. THE MONUMENT IS FLUSH AND THE DISK IS STAMPED SHANNAHAN 1935 AZIMUTH. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION 22 METERS.
